About Jacky (a.k.a. TheBoyWhoCriedAction)
Since graduating from Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne in 2010, Singaporean filmmaker Jacky Lee, also known as TheBoyWhoCriedAction, has built a remarkable career directing commercials and short films. His distinctive visual style, keen eye for aesthetics, and ability to craft vibrant, memorable characters, coupled with offbeat humour and dynamic soundtracks, have resonated with diverse audiences.
Jacky quickly garnered industry recognition. In 2013, his debut film Sunshine was officially selected for various prestigious festivals, including the Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia, and won Best Sound at the 5th Singapore Short Film Awards. His debut web series Sleeping Beauty & The Man in the Red Suit was honoured as Best Comedy at the Asia Web Awards 2018 and selected for Festival Carballo Interplay 2019.
Throughout his career, Jacky has collaborated with prominent brands such as Singapore Airlines, Singapore Tourism Board, Puma, Ricola, Canon, StarHub, Porsche, Mediacorp and Nespresso. In 2017, he was selected by Gucci to develop and direct a launch video in partnership with Dover Street Market Singapore.
Beyond his commercial work, Jacky actively contributes to Singapore’s arts and design community through teaching engagements at various institutions.
